outcasthd2Outcast, one of the most ambitious PC games ever created in its time, is nearing its 15th birthday, and what better way to celebrate than by remaking the classic PC title with HD graphics? Key members of the original development studio behind Outcast have gotten onboard with Fresh30 to bring to the world an updated and reimagined version of Outcast using modern technology to bring Outcast, a groundbreaking game back in 1999, to a new generation of gamers.

The gameplay of the original title will carry over from the 1999 incarnation, but in updated form. The original was one of the very first open-world sandbox games, two years prior to GTA III. It took place on a strange and alien planet inhabited by unfamiliar life forms, and featured tons of dialogue and an open-ended approach to the order you completed quests. The updated version will include beyond-HD graphics (so… 4k?), updated HUD, and improvements to in-game interface issues that plagued the 1999 version like inventory management, the notepad, and dialogue. Many storyline-related annoyances will also be alleviated, while still sticking strictly to the source material.

Outcast’s HD reboot is currently seeking funding, and if you want to get into the sweeter backer tiers, you need to move fast, because the low-end funding tiers have already been snapped up.  However, there are plenty of reason to spring for the available reward tiers like t-shirts and statues. Go on over to Kickstarter and check it out!
