[dropcap size=big]E[/dropcap]very week we take a brief look at all of the Kickstarter video game campaigns that launched in the previous week.  This isn’t to say that all of these projects are worth your hard earned cash, but with any luck having all of them in one place will make it easier to educate yourself on the projects you’d like to back, and which ones to run from.  You’ll find two types of campaigns listed, “featured” and “the rest“.  Featured campaigns are those that contain a significant amount of game information, are from known developers, or are significant in some other way.  The rest of the games are usually smaller campaigns that are lacking in information, are from unknowns, have unanswered questions, or have not yet stood out for one reason or another.

Featured Campaigns :

thisisthepolicelogoGame : This Is the Police

What it is : Marcus wrote: “Games about the police come in many shapes and sizes, but lately most seem to be of the FPS persuasion. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that but some folks out there are looking for more strategic and thoughtful titles. This Is the Police, which is currently crowdfunding via Kickstarter, may be one such game. It focuses on a long time police chief by the name of Jack Boyd who just turned 60 years old and was instructed to retire in 180 days. Although he’s spent his entire career “playing by the books” it never resulted in a lot of money. With copious family bills to pay off, and almost no way to do so, he decides to end his career with a bang – he’ll disavow the law to get some much needed cash.”

Orphan is a dark platformer from Windy Hill Studio that's crowdfunding on Kickstarter.Game : Orphan

What it is : Marcus wrote: “What would you do if you woke up to find that aliens had invaded and taken over the Earth overnight? It wouldn’t be a pretty picture, that’s for sure. Orphan begins with this exact thing happening to a young boy. He awakens to find the entire human populace seemingly gone with only mechanical aliens left scouring the planet. With little aside from fear to keep him in one place, the player will explore with this young child through the dark 2D environments crawling with danger..”

Car Mechanic Simulator 2015 is a car mechanic simulator that's now crowdfunding on Kickstarter.Game : Car Mechanic Simulator 2015

What it is : Marcus wrote: “There are a surprisingly huge amount of simulator titles on Steam having to do with driving cars. So, what about if you’re more interested in working on them rather than getting behind the wheel? Car Mechanic Simulator 2014 seemed to be one of the few titles to fit that bill. It also seems to have been quite popular, with over 1,000 reviews and a “very positive” rating on the game’s Steam store page. Thanks to that it’s easy to assume that the developers know their way around cars and game-making, so their current Kickstarter seems like a good bet.”

Eridanus Wars is a space sim that's for use with the Oculus Rift.Game : Eridanus Wars

What it is : Marcus wrote: “The basics of this game are not too dissimilar from what everyone seems to want in space games at the moment. You’ll spend a lot of time engaged in frantic dogfights, gathering resources, and checking out online aspects such as in ship co-op. Of course, you can also fight against enemy players in these large-scale battles too. Then there’s the Oculus Rift support which is basically a given at this point in the space simulator genre. Please note that this support translates to a Rift being required to play! With that said, this is also the reason the Kickstarter campaign is funding for a “beta” release of Eridanus Wars.”

The Rest of the Campaigns :

It´s just a dream : A first person survival game that’s still very early in development.

Insult Trivia : A trivia game, with insults; but nothing to show at the moment.

The Mars Wars TCG : A sci-fi collectible card game with no video or screenshots.

Police Officer Simulator : The title says it all.  Unfortunately the campaign shows nothing.

Universal : A first person action game that takes place in space.  Not much to show yet though.

Grav-A-Tron : A trippy looking platformer.

Empires Of Europe : Another game with nothing to show. This is getting to be a trend.

The Foolish Brave To Challenge a God! : A pretty nice looking action platformer.

Planetillary : Love the title, and the game seems like fun; the Kickstarter needs an overhaul though.

Ring Veteran : A pro-wrestling themed trading card game.

Insane Off-Road : This game takes me back to some of the great racers of the late 90’s. That framerate though.

Lision’s Darkness : A top down 16 bit RPG.

Pride Escape : An endless runner with nothing to show.

DokiDoki! Ai Love You! 2! : A! 2D! Shooter! With! Lots! Of! Excitement!

Angel’s Demise : An open world 3D fighter with some pretty nice art direction.

Setback : A very early in development looking platformer.

40 Zombies : A zombie game with a lot of cool ideas.

Pump-Action Captain : A first person shooter that involves shooting, and stuff.

Stellar Pioneer : A space based sand-box game that seems fun, but is really rough in the art department.

Eurynomos : The Flesh Eaters : An open world first person shooter/survival game with some pretty snazzy graphics.

The Ghetto – South Central : So much work needed, so little to show.

the invisible samurai : it’s never a good sign when the cover art is a rough pencil sketch.

Pirates Online : This one might get the award for the least amount of info ever given in a campaign; and with a $120,000 funding goal!

Lapis Azurai : A visual novel with trading and exploration elements, looks really interesting! Shame about the lack of screenshots, check out the video to see the game.

That’s it for last weeks Kickstarter campaigns.  Watch your wallets!
