Double Double Your Enjoyment: A Preview of Halfsies Dice

Halfsies Dice

What's my favorite dice color? Blue! No...green! No...wait, I just can't decide. So I might as well just use these shiny new Halfsies Dice, which merge two colors into each individual die. Cool concept!

We heard about Halfsies from the inventor, John Wrot. They look good in the pictures, but you never know until you get to see something in person — so we withheld judgment until we could handle some actual dice. Some samples arrived today, and I have had ample opportunity to give them a close look.

From the very moment you first lay eyes on these dice, you'll agree: they look beautiful. The pearly texture is mesmerizing and the dual colors add flare and interest. It's kind of cool (and geeky) to think about which color schemes would go best with which games. Though you might spend more time looking at these dice, or protecting them from greasy hands, than actually rolling them — they make a great addition to any dice collection.

In general, the sparkly gold tones used for the numbers offer great contrast for seemingly every color being offered. However, as the only drawback to these dice, it seems like the gold paint may have a tendency to wear off over time. Some of the numbers on our samples already seem like the paint is a little thin or worn (see pictures below) — but your mileage may vary.

The dice sets come in a variety of colors, with each set containing one of the following: d4, d6, d8, d10 (1's), d10 (10's), d12, d20.

If you're looking for some unique dice, you may want to take a look at Halfsies, now on Kickstarter through Saturday, March 21.

Chris James,

Thanks so much for this great article.  I appreciate you taking the time to review them.

I'm happy to report that these are just the original prototypes and the thin paint issue has already been addressed with our manufacturing team, so the finals will be thicker and better quality. : )

Super great write-up and I'm glad you took the chance to see before speaking.  Glad you liked what you saw too!

Glad to hear it, John! With thicker/better paint, I think the final product will be fantastic. Congrats on a great product and a very successful campaign!
