Dreamfall Chapters Book Two drops a little later than expected, March 10

Dreamfall Chapters Book Two: Rebels will launch on Steam, GOG and the Humble Store for Linux, Mac and Windows PC March 10, Red Thread Games announced today via the game's Kickstarter page.

Dreamfall Chapters is an episodic followup to The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. The game focuses heavily on choice and consequence through dialogue, with players selecting different conversational choices to change their path. Book Two will continue the story of Zoë Castillo and Kian Alvane while introducing new characters and places to explore. The developer will release a trailer Feb. 24.

Red Thread Games teased the launch for Rebels back in November 2014. According to the developer's announcement on Kickstarter, the initial plan was to release Book Two on Feb. 24. It was a lack of testing and bug fixing that lead to the delay, Red Thread added.

"The wait between the first two episodes has been longer than expected," the post reads. "This is due to a number of factors, including the massive scope of the second episode — up to 50 percent bigger than Book One, which took an average of four hours to play through — the technical challenges in building (and bug fixing) a functioning framework for an episodic game, and the very, very long test cycle involved in a choice-and-consequence based game that's now approaching ten hours in length after only two episodes."

Red Thread said Book Two is complete and is undergoing thorough testing; the team has already started on Book Three. Red Thread expects "a more rapid development process" for Book Three, while Books Four and Five will launch later this year.
