Every week we take a brief look at all of the Kickstarter video game campaigns that launched in the previous week.  This isn’t to say that all of these projects are worth your hard earned cash, but with any luck having all of them in one place will make it easier to educate yourself on the projects you’d like to back, and which ones to run from.  You’ll find two types of campaigns listed, “featured” and “the rest“.  Featured campaigns are those that contain a significant amount of game information, are from known developers, or are significant in some other way.  The rest of the games are usually smaller campaigns that are lacking in information, are from unknowns, have unanswered questions, or have not yet stood out for one reason or another.

Featured Campaigns :

Hegemony III is the third installment in the popular strategy video game series from Longbow Games.Game : Hegemony III: Clash of the Ancients

What it is : Marcus wrote: “Do you know of Longbow Games? If you’ve played Hegemony Gold: Wars of Ancient Greece or Hegemony Rome: The Rise of Caesar then you definitely know their work. These developers have proved time and time again that they know how to create incredibly engaging strategy titles for fans. Heck, just look at the previously mentioned games’ Steam pages which both have highly positive reviews! Hegemony III: Clash of the Ancients is the next chapter of Longbow Games’ history but this time they’re seeking the help of players directly.”

Aviary Attorney is a new game on Kickstarter that's like Phoenix Wright, but with real birds. Lot's of courtroom drama here!Game : Aviary Attorney

What it is : Marcus wrote: “Nearly ten years ago I got my first taste of what could be considered a “visual novel” with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney on Nintendo DS. Ever since then, I’ve become a fan of the genre and moved onto many more titles. Still, that series has a special place in my heart. It’s because of this that I’ve followed the progress of Aviary Attorney since it first popped onto my radar. When word went out that their Kickstarter would soon begin I was all aflutter. There must be more people like me out there so I totally expect this campaign to be fully funded for £7,000 (about $10,000).”

Crown of the Gods is an empire-building MMO with strategy elements that also features an apocalyptic endgame. It's crowdfunding on Kickstarter.Game : Crown of the Gods

What it is : Marcus wrote: “For the uninitiated, Crown of the Gods is an online multiplayer strategy game which is free-to-play, but not “pay-to-win.” Players begin with a small city and must increase their sphere of influence as they explore the land. Of course, other players are also vying for the crown. The race to win involves battles as well as forging alliances. Unlike many strategy games you’re able to enjoy this meta game without micromanaging everything as well. There are features in place to allow for automation of basic tasks. Unlike most MMOs, this also does have the end goal of receiving a crown. Of course, you can play more matches as you desire afterward.”

The Rest of the Campaigns :

Quest of Xynha : A Java based RPG with some very basic graphics. While there’s no screenshots on the campaign page, there’s plenty of gameplay shown, and even a demo available for download.

Immune Defense video game : An interesting twist on the tower defense genre; one where you’re likely to learn a thing or two.

British War 1000 AD : A spreadsheet heavy strategy game in need of a facelift.

Was it all just a dream !? : Not only is this the winner for the least amount of info provided in a Kickstarter for the week; it might also take the title for all time.

Quest Game : A whole lot of nothing shown.

Xanxillium : A game emphasizing a ‘revolutionary’ AI system; unfortunately it doesn’t have much to show at the moment.

Z-Utopia : A zombie defense strategy game with no screenshots.

Donnie Hogling : A platformer that’s looking pretty raw at the moment, but looks like it has some potential.

Super Kawaii Turtle Fighter : A turtle fighting game with some nifty looking graphics, and split screen multiplayer.

Curse of the Darkness : A horror game based on a popular haunted house that features some pretty great looking graphics.

Guild of Hunters : A relaunch of a campaign we covered previously; off to a better, but still slow, start.

Arms Race – The Cold War Era : I can’t get past the fact that the game is called “Arms Race” but all of the artwork has “Race” spelled as “Rase.”

Homo sapiens : There’s like a Kickstarter campaign that features almost no info and uses images lifted from a Google image search.

INVISION : A survival shooter that’s got a long way to go before asking for $30,000.

ReAwakening : An old-school JRPG with an extremely low funding goal.
