Covington brewery sets another Kickstarter record

Barring pledge cancellations, Braxton Brewing Co. has set another Kickstarter record: It's the most funded brewery project in the site's history.

As of about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Braxton, coming this winter to Seventh Street in Covington, had raised $65,670 from 557 backers. Kickstarter's previous record holder for the most funded brewery raised $65,565.

The campaign runs until 11 a.m. Thursday, so pledge cancellations before that time could keep the brewery from breaking the record. Braxton co-founder Jake Rouse, who is opening the brewery with his brother, Evan; their father, Greg; and renowned brewmaster Richard Dube, formerly of Christian Moerlein, doesn't expect that to happen, though.

"We are truly blown away and humbled by the support of the people of both the Greater Cincinnati and the Kickstarter communities," he said. "We cannot wait to share the space with everyone and bring our vision of the 'Taproom of the Future' to life! Be on the lookout for some fun updates along the way."

The brewery previously broke the single-day funding record for a brewery on Kickstarter and reached its $30,000 goal just 35 hours after the campaign's Sept. 30 launch.
