Greenlit point-and-click game Asylum takes to Kickstarter to speed up development

Point-and-click horror game Asylum was already approved through Steam Greenlight earlier this month, but developer Senscape has launched a Kickstarter campaign for funding to finish the game more quickly.

Asylum, lead by mystery-adventure game Scratches' designer Agustín Cordes, is asking for $100,666 to complete development on "a proper schedule and resources." Cordes writes on the Kickstarter page that Asylum is still a "garage game," and most of the development staff works on the game in their free time.

"If we reach the goal, we will lock ourselves inside an office for the remainder of the year until Asylum is complete," he writes. "Being able to work together every day in the same room makes a huge difference, especially for such a large project."

Asylum has been in development for three years and is well on its way to completion. The titular asylum includes around 100 rooms to explore and 15 hours of gameplay, and the game will be DRM-free on all platforms including Steam. The team is keeping Asylum's plot under wraps, believing the less they share about the game, the more players will be surprised.

Senscape plans to launch Asylum this December for Windows PC, Mac and Linux. Check out the teaser trailer above for a look at Asylum in action.
