Potato salad Kickstarter guy spending $55K on concert for charity

Zach Brown raised more than $55,000 for potato salad on Kickstarter and now he wants to spend that money on a huge potato-themed concert for charity.

Brown announced on Kickstarter that he will host a free festival called PotatoStock in Columbus, Ohio, that will benefit homelessness in the area.

The festival is set for Sept. 27 and will feature local artists. Proceeds from selling concessions will be donated to help the homeless population in Central Ohio, specifically to the Columbus Foundation.

"This will create a permanent fund to help Central Ohio's non-profits end hunger and homelessness," Brown said in his July announcement. "These types of funds gain interest every year and grow over time, so, while our little Internet joke will one day be forgotten, the impact will be felt forever. "

Brown's Twitter account and tweets from followers tease sponsors such as Idaho Potato and Hellmann's for the big event.

And if you're wondering how Brown was going to get potato salad to more than 6,900 backers, this may be the answer.

"If you can get to PotatoStock, you get your bite of potato salad!," Brown wrote.
