comatose1With the removal of a tiger, deer, and lion mask, the members of the Animal Kingdom Games team revealed themselves before me (and dozens of backers). Each member of this small development team taking on a unique part as they have fostered a direct identity with a specific animal – or perhaps they did this to have a wicked awesome Kickstarter video, I’m unsure. Who doesn’t love animals?

All in all, Animal Kingdom Games made a point to establish a firm presentation on their first game, Comatose, which is now on Kickstarter, aiming for $20,000 CAD. When turning to crowdfunding, presentation can make or break the campaign, so I’d have to say Animal Kingdom is off to a positive start.

Comatose is a first person psychological horror game that will seep into the depths of the main character’s psyche, digging into the darkest crypts of his mind. The main character has a disturbing past he’s tried to turn his back on. After all these years, he is forced to confront them after a tragic car accident puts our main character into a coma. His sanity is dwindling rapidly and it’s the players’ responsibility to fight through the nightmares, relive those horrific events, and gain back every bit of his sanity before it is too late.

The majority of the funds gained from the campaign will be put directly towards final development of Comatose. The stretch goals are looking pretty snazzy, including additional levels/sequences, an OUYA version, Oculus Rift support, next generation consoles, Co-Op/4 Player playability. On top of that, if they score $85K, we can expect a Comatose development documentary.

As of writing this, Comatose has already raised over $1.5K and has until September 4th to raise the remaining $18,500.
