algobot2There are quite a few games out there nowadays that make an attempt at conveying the basic logic behind low-level coding. I’m not complaining at all, in fact I’m currently working on an initiative to bring that kind of knowledge to kids on a grander scale, and I love seeing things like this slap a kid-friendly coat of paint on what would otherwise be the most daunting task of a child’s young life. Coding is not simple but video games are fun, and in the same way that puzzle games are challenging, these coding game present themselves as challenging puzzle games – the only difference is that you leave the game with useful real-world knowledge. Algo-Bot is one of these games, and it presents itself with a level of polish and kid-friendly fun that I’m simply amazed by.

Although still in a working alpha stage of development, Algo-Bot appears to be very polished already, presenting the incredibly complicated process of coding and boiling it down to a simple chain of instructions. You can move your robot forward and backward or turn, along with other functions for more advanced players and later stages. You’re just trying to get from point A to point B one step at a time, but here’s the catch – you’re trying to do it as efficiently as possible, and in as few steps (just like coding!).

algobot1If you’d like to take a closer look or grab one of the remaining Digital Copy – Early Bird tiers, you can visit Algo-Bot’s Kickstarter for way more info and more. If you donate $35 or more, you’ll even be given immediate access to Algo-Bot’s current alpha build, and at a higher tier, the level creator, which allows you to submit your own levels for the game’s final release.
