“Can I kick it?” asked A Tribe Called Quest in 1991, before summarily answering their own question with “yes you may, and not only that, but if you kick it past your $1.1 million goal you may start announcing additional goals such as The Endless Paths of Od Nua and crafting and enchanting features”. Obsidian have just hit 50,000 backers on the Project Eternity Kickstarter page, which has unlocked the aforementioned dungeon. The total amount pledged towards the RPG now stands at $2.2 million, and Obsidian have just announced what they plan to add if you can bump that pile of cash up to $2.4 million.

The new dungeon, The Endless Paths of Od Nua, will now be added to Project Eternity as the result of the Kickstarter reaching its goal of 50,000 backers. The next stretch goals at $2.3 millionand$2.4 million, on the other hand, will unlock crafting and enchanting features —allowing players to create their own weapons and equipment before pumping them full of magical auras — as well as the challenge-emboldeningHeart of Fury and Hardcore modes from Icewind Dale and Fallout: New Vegas.

From the update post:

“Crafting and enchanting in Project Eternity will allow players to use objects and materials they find during exploration to both create consumable items like potions and scrolls as well as give their gear custom upgrades that can’t be accomplished by other means. This system is intended to be easy to use and very flexible, allowing players to customize many aspects of what they can create or alter. Whether it’s brewing basic potions from herbs and minerals commonly found throughout the world or upgrading a humble broadsword into a custom-named, magically-imbued weapon of distinctive and legendary power, we want to give players the ability to make it.”

Previous stretch goals included new playable races, Mac and Linux versions of the game, localisation into French, German and Spanish, new regions and new factions. Obsidian have also announced an incomingPaypal option for those who have beenunable to donate through Kickstarter and found little success in just smushing their wallets against their monitors.
