troubadour2Sometimes when artists try and combine their artistic sensibilities  with technology in order to make a statement things can go bad, very bad.  Other times we get landscape changing pieces of art that challenge what we think of as entertainment and art.  Troubadour from Cicatriz looks like it may fall into the latter category, a grim looking exposition on the price humans pay for technology.  It follows Lu, a young woman whose world is a Philip K Dick inspired technological disaster piece.  While we don’t know much about Lu or what’s going on, there’s a line from the Kickstarter page that should give you an idea :

The experience, at a high level, is critical of how our society no longer moderates our relationship with technology and the consequences we face because of that.

Don’t count on it being the the most uplifting thing you play this year.

The Troubadour Kickstarter campaign runs until February 21st and has a funding goal of $15,000.  Head over to the Troubadour Kickstarter page for some screens, brief glimpses of gameplay footage, and an amazing song from the games’ composer Deezign.  Contrary to the developers recommendation, you should turn up the volume to better appreciate the drums in particular.
