Shroud of the Avatar crosses $3M mark

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues, Portalarium, Inc.'s crowd-funded fantasy role-playing game, recently passed $3 million in pledges, creator Richard Garriott announced via the game's site.

Shroud of the Avatar successfully ended its Kickstarter campaign last April with $1.9 million. Another $1.1 million has been raised directly through the game's website. In celebration of the milestone, Garriott wrote, the team will host a "late night Video Hangout" on Thursday, Jan. 23. More details will be available this coming week.

As previously announced, the game's second release will take place from Jan. 24-26; the update is only available to backers starting at the $45 pledge tier. The second release opens the game's shopping, second town, crafting and more. Those interested in receiving access to Shroud of the Avatar can still pledge.
