'Bible Chronicles - The Call of Abraham' Looks to Raise $100,000 on Kickstarter to Launch Biblical Video Game

In an ambitious project launched with a Kickstarter campaign seeking to raise $100,000, Phoenix Interactive Studios is looking to tell the story of the first books of the Bible in their brand new video game, "The Call of Abraham."

Game developers Phoenix Interactive Studios, located in Bakersfield, California, is led by its visionary co-founders Martin Bertram and Richard Gaeta. They have worked tirelessly on their first project, Bible Chronicles: Call of Abraham.

This PC game will mostly handle the journey of the people of Israel as they look to find their identity and the Promised Land.

"We hold the Bible completely sacred, and we've gone to great lengths to maintain authenticity," the studio said to Christian-Gaming.com

To keep historical accuracy and correct Biblical order, Phoenix Interactive Studios gathered a team of pastors and Biblical experts, which helped provide advice in important questions about ethical and religious questions.

Bertram and Gaeta hope to use the game not only for the purpose of fun moral entertainment, but also as an evangelistic tool.

"I have four kids and Richard has two kids, and we had this idea of creating Christian video games that stir a hunger for God's Word," said Bertram to Christiantoday.com.

The game has also been voted onto the PC game service, Steam, the "iTunes" for the gaming world in which consumers can select the games they think are worth buying.

The studio went on to say if the campaign goes well, it would serve as the first in a longer series of "Bible Chronicles" video games.

Phoenix Interactive Studios is using KickStarter to establish their financial goal of $100.000. If the studio does not meet their goal none of the funds raised are released to them.

The studio said a Kickstarter boost would allow the launch of the game to be much faster and would help them focus on the game until it's finished at the level of quality they are looking for.

With a funded campaign, it can be available around Thanksgiving 2014.

Videos games have fundamentally taken over recreational time in most homes in America. Research shows that an estimated 72 percent of American households play video games and the average length of time spent playing video games was 20 hours per week.

In a world of games, here are a few other faith based Christian games.
