Bugbear Entertainment cancels Next Car Game Kickstarter

Bugbear Entertainment canceled the Kickstarter campaign for its motorsport title, Next Car Game, after it became "obvious" that the game would not reach its funding goal.

According to the Kickstarter post, Bugbear will instead concentrate on a pre-order campaign for the game. Those that have already pre-ordered Next Car Game can download a playable "technology sneak peek" featuring a testing level and 24 cars.

"In the full game the action will take place on many locations, including a number of race tracks and derby arenas," the post reads. "We're also going to improve the gameplay and technology on many fronts such as car damage and handling, and our Early Access customers will get a chance to experience these improvements first-hand during the Early Access phase!"

Bugbear launched its Kickstarter campaign on Nov. 1. Over the course of funding efforts, the game only raised $81,722 of its $350,000 goal. Next Car Game was expected to launch in May 2014.
