imagine2Cat Banana Studios have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their voxel filled sandbox game Imagine Nations, and they’re shooting for the stars.  A mix of Civilization and Minecraft, Imagine Nations tasks players with growing their civilization from the Stone Age to the Space Age.

Starting off on a primitive procedurally generated world of their own players can help their people by creating objects and buildings of their own design, researching new technologies, and engineering advanced vehicles.  Far from being a solo experience, the world of Imagine Nations is filled with a wide variety of civilizations existing in various phases of technological and cultural advancement.  As you explore the universe you might come across a Stone Age tribe struggling to get by, only to be contacted by them much later thanks to their advances in technology.  That far flung civilization may even be controlled by a friend that’s playing on your server.

To say that the guys at Cat Banana are shooting for the stars might be an understatement.  What they’re attempting appears to be nothing short of a universe simulator.  It’s easy to admire their enthusiasm and ideas, but we’ll have to keep an eye on them and  Imagine Nations to see if they can pull it off.

The Imagine Nations Kickstarter campaign runs until December 20th and has a funding goal of $200,000.
