The Mandate Passes 50% of Kickstarter Goal

by on November 13, 2013

The Mandate, a sci-fi RPG designed by numerous industry veterans, has received pledges for more than half of its $500,000 kickstarter target.

Designed by Perihelion Interactive the game takes inspiration from classic sci-fi shows, from Star Trek to Firefly, in an attempt to create a huge, open sci-fi RPG.

The gameplay itself takes inspiration from X-Com and Fallout, but the game appears to have a strong emphasis on interaction as well, so it’s not all just blasty-blasty.

Broad is the name of the game, and because they’ve passed the 250,000 mark Perihelion have announced an ‘Ask Me Anything‘ that will take place on  Wednesday 13 November from 5pm EST (11pm CET, 10pm UK). This will be a good time to truly gauge and analyse the team’s ambitions.

The team seem stunningly dedicated, even going so far as to create a text adventure set in the universe, despite their projected release of the full game being in the far flung future of 2015.

But I jest, The Mandate looks and sounds pretty spectacular, and it’s a project I’ll be keeping a close eye on. If you’re still unsure check out the video below, it should do a better job of selling the game than any of my babble…
